Title: Finished my Stereomour - Powder coated and some upgraded bits
Post by: Lemons on April 08, 2018, 09:35:46 AM
Finished the Stereomour II a few weeks ago and thought I would share some pics. This is the third build I have done, second I had powder coated. I will definitely be going the powder coating route for all future projects. I am really happy with the way it turned out. I went with the shunt regulator and DC filament supply and couldnt be happier with the end result.

I have had a lot of tube gear and this is one of my all time favorites so far. It's not just the sound, but with the DC filament supply it is dead quiet with 97db speakers. I added a pic with my original Stereomour that I just recently swapped over to 45s.

The only issue I have had to date is actually not with the amp, but with the Sophia Electric 2.5v 2A3. They look pretty, but to my ears, the JJ 2A3 and RCA Black Plates have been my tubes of choice. something about the Sophia Electrics just doesn't seem right. I have had many of their tubes and currently run their 45s in my Stereomour I, so I am wondering if it is just this "300b" variant. Anyway, enjoy the pics.

Very nice.  Very nice.  I gave up on Sophia tubes, too much variation in QC.  The Psvane 2A3c sounds as good as the JJ 2A3's in my Stereomour II.

That's a nice, tidy looking build!

I keep a 5lb container of that exact powder on hand, and it gets used very frequently (in fact, the Tube Repro transformer covers get that finish).
