Title: Long bleed down noted
Post by: Karl5150 on February 06, 2019, 10:12:47 AM
When I shut down my S.E.X 3, it takes noticably longer for the caps to bleed down than with my other BH amps. I can hear music, albeit at a much reduced volume, fully 25 seconds after switching off. Three weeks of daily listening without a hiccup. Did I miss a grounding step somewhere?

I'm pretty sure it's nothing to worry about. Mine does the same and it was repaired by the BH guys.

It's most likely that the fading sound you are hearing after shut off is fine. You could monitor the DC volts at terminal 7 or 21 and watch how fast the voltage drops to 30VDC or so after you shut the amp off. Anything around 30 sec or less is fine. Try checking the connections of the 270K 1W bleeder resistors at T33/T34 and T35/T36 if it is taking a lot longer.

Thanks guys, good to know that it's within spec/expected. I'll check the 270s, maybe when I get arround to installing the C4S.
