Title: SII with output tubes other than 2A3 or 45?
Post by: Deke609 on April 28, 2019, 06:40:53 PM
I just came across this tantalizing remark from PJ from a couple of years back:

Incidentally, I originally designed it to have some other output stage options, not just the 45. It's not clear which of them we might support, at what level of support. So I won't say more just yet.

@PJ: As I am sure others would, I'd very much like to hear more about the other output stage options.

There are some other indirectly heated tube types that could be made to work in a Stereomour II, but I wouldn't expect them to be particularly strong performers sonically.

Maybe the RE604.

Sorry to have been unclear - I was not thinking of other tubes. Work progresses, can't really say more just yet.

Thanks PB and PJ.

@PJ: a different output stage circuit for the 2A3 would be a cool experiment. I'm sure there's are more than a few others on this forum who would enjoy playing around with a different output stage configuration.  Something to look forward to!
