Is it safe to say we are in Jager Speaker Build number 4.
-
It is safe to say we are in speaker build #4 here at Chateau Bottlehead. I am pumping the photons out of the laser cutter making tweeter gaskets, felt diffraction panels and crossover and impedance network boards. The cabinet maker has not yet completed the cabinet run but we expect to hear from them any day. The last bits and pieces have been trickling in. Hoping that the first kits start packing next week.

That's exciting news, looking forward to receiving The Jager Speaker Kit....
-
Update - I should be picking up cabinets late today. We have one small hangup in that I wanted to upgrade the material we use for the crossover and impedance network boards. The shipment of the material I am upgrading to has been delayed, but it should be here around Wednesday. In the meantime we will be packing the many other parts.

Thanks for the update. Receiving the upgrade parts is around the corner. All good news. Cheers!!

Update - kits are coming together on the packing bench. It's taking a little extra time due to our temporary packing setup being pretty tight space-wise, which limits how many projects we can work on at a time. There are a lot of separate steps in getting these kits packed, and a fair amount of the bigger stuff has to be housed in storage a few miles away. We're shooting for the first kits to ship by Friday.
A dry fit of one of the cabinets indicates that these are a really nice fitting batch with good looking veneer. By the way we had a few extra sets of cabinets made, so if you are considering a Jäger kit we can get one pulled together for you as soon as we order and receive the other parts for your kit.

Thanks, for the update.

The first kit of the latest run was just picked up by one of our favorite long time customers. Thanks Joe! We're cranking away at them and should be getting the rest out over the next couple of days.

You are very welcome; I'm glad to be a long time customer of my favorite local business. I forgot to tell you a funny story yesterday. I ordered a used cd from a seller on discogs.com a month or so ago; when it arrived in the mail, there was an unsigned note attached saying 'this will sound great on those Jagers'. Uhhh...wtf? It took a while to put it together, but you can probably guess.

We have spies everywhere.

Picked up Jager Speaker Kit from the UPS facility before noon today.
Thanks Doc!!!!

Very pleased .🙂

Thank you all! I look forward to hearing how they come together. For anyone following this who is thinking about getting some, we have cabinet panels in stock for a few more kits.

During the dry fit process, do you recommend the use of the cam locks and dowels. Also, the male and female snap-clamp connectors?
Thanks.
-
Just install the cams and dowels for the dry fit and fit it together up to the point of attaching the front panel. I don't think you need to fit the 16" x 16" bottom panel on either. The main thing you want to observe by dry fitting is how the sides, back, top and internal dividers fit together. The fasteners for the front panel snap together and are somewhat difficult to pry apart so I do not recommend a dry fit for those. Those snap fasteners have also been chosen to allow a wee bit of vertical adjustment before the glue dries and thus are not as important to test fit anyway.

ok, Thank you!

Speaker build coming along. Been working on them off and on. Hopefully in a few more days I be will listening to them.
-
I see lots of wood dust. How do you plan to finish them?
-
I plan on using Teak Oil, I like the natural look. My audio shelfs and stands for the mono blocks and speakers are finished in clear lacquer.
-
Doc B. has made me into a lacquer convert, but oil is certainly appealing for larger items.
-
I did consider a lacquer finish but I also wanted the speakers to be a little darker, in order for them to stand out.
-
I'm on the final stages of completing Jager speakers. The gluing went well all the boards came together nicely, no gaps air tight. Getting ready to solder caps to woofers, put damping cloth in (no gluing right?) Ports, connecting wires...… then putting it in to my system. The Home Stretch!!!!!
-
The build is complete!!! The Jager speakers bring the music alive.
Thanks to Doc and Gang for all their R&D, trial and error over the years to create such a great set of speakers.
You guys hit a Homerun!!!!!
Thanks,
Roberto
