Title: stereomour 2 shunt regulator
Post by: kivanculgener on July 13, 2019, 12:56:29 PM
 Hi everybody :)
i have ordered shunt regulator kit for my Stereomour 2 .While waiting for kit i  had time to think about some replacements.
For example changing Dayton 0.1uf capacitor with  a boutique capacitor or changing 120kohm and 300kohm resistors with Kiwame .Can it make a sonic difference?. I have  a pair of 0.1uf Mundorf SIO, 0.022uf V-cap CUTF and 0.22uf Arizona Green  cactus.i know SIO is same value and can be a easy change.BUT what about using 0.022uf and 0.22 uf caps.
  Thank you.

Hi everybody :)

This cap is there for regulator stability.  I don't find huge differences between caps in those positions.

or changing 120kohm and 300kohm resistors with Kiwame.
These are not in the signal path.
Can it make a sonic difference?. I have  a pair of 0.1uf Mundorf SIO, 0.022uf V-cap CUTF and 0.22uf Arizona Green  cactus.i know SIO is same value and can be a easy change.BUT what about using 0.022uf and 0.22 uf caps.
Have you already replaced the 0.1uF coupling caps in the amp?

I believe you can use a 0.22uF for Cc without causing problems, but I would recommend sticking with the 0.1uF size.
