Title: DC Filament Question [resolved]
Post by: oguinn on May 15, 2020, 01:53:24 PM
Is 5.6V ok to get on the 300Bs during the test? I assume so but it is outside of the range but a little over 10% so thought I’d ask

This is 5.6V at pins 1/4 on the socket itself?  Are you using the 0.51 ohm resistors?  Pics of the install?

It is on pins 1/4 on both the A and C side. I’ll post pictures in a bit. I don’t have the instructions in front of me, but I did use all available resistors from the kit.

Also, does your meter have a 20V range?  On a DC range like 600V, seeing 5.6V wouldn't be that surprising.

It auto ranges. Should I try to force it into the 20V range?

No, any autoranging meter should resolve 5V just fine.  What voltage do you get on the terminal strips where the DC output of the regulator board lands?

You have not properly installed the board.

You know, I went over those instructions about a thousand times and still managed to get that final step wrong.

Please forget this happened. I won’t, but you can.

For whatever reason AC In and DC out made a bunch of sense. AND I only had one IPA while doing it. Embarrassing.

I mean, if you've put that same board into a Stereomour, I could easily see how this would happen.

Hokay. With the error fixed I’m within the right range on both tubes. I’ll let the caps discharge and go do some chores then see how it sounds.

Thanks for the eagle eye, as always

Hot damn, that works really nicely. By far the most noticeable upgrade I’ve done.
