Title: Seduction phono — matched/balanced tubes required?
Post by: fosterlynch on June 30, 2020, 12:42:45 PM
Hi, all. Pardon the silly question — I know that the phono stage of my Fisher 500C benefits from having a closely matched and balanced pair of 12AX7s. Should I assume that the same is true of the 6922s for my Bottlehead Seduction?

Been thinking about rolling another set, just want to be sure that I look for a matched and balanced set if necessary.

Thanks...

Matched matters more than balanced in this case. It might be advantageous to have a pair of 6922s that produce close to the same gain from both triodes in each one, and between tubes. However the audible difference is probably going to be pretty small compared to tubes that aren't exactly matched.
