Found this video where he talks about using a constant current source.  The schematic looks similar to the Crack+Speedball based on my limited understanding.

Yes, the first drawing he looks at is much like a simplified Crack circuit.  This talking points about load lines rotating and swing headroom don't apply much to the 12AU7 in the Crack, and are a reasonably incomplete analysis on why we would want a CCS on the 6080 in the Crack.
