When you get to the step where you cut a 5 terminal strip down to a 3 terminal strip to mount next to the power inlet don't use your Xcelite side cutters...use some proper diagonal pliers.
-
I hate when that happens. If no heavy diagonal cutters I score a line with an exacto knife 4 or 5 times and snap off with a pair of pliers.
Then a little touchup with a sanding block. I hate breaking tools. I still have a pair of Thomas and Betts crimpers that I bought in 1983 and crimped countless thousands of connections when I was a car stereo installer. They have quite a patina on them but work as they did when they were new. Limitations.

I did the same damn thing a couple years ago putting together a BH kit! It's a lesson that only needs to be taught once.

Doc,
That comes from the death grip you use on the throttle of your race bike.

For what it's worth, I use these professionally every day and sometimes abuse them horribly like gnawing my way through 30amp power cables. Never had one break...John

Obviously you're not trying hard enough.
-
I used a Dremel and a mini cut off wheel.

Yea these cutters are for small wires But from my experience from WAY BACK I think xcelite tools use to be guarantied for life.
-
One more (obvious) tip - make sure you pay close attention to the orientation when cutting this. I made the mistake of cutting off the wrong side, and had to order a replacement. It doesn't fit both ways! :o

@thibodeaux, I did the same damn thing!
