Title: Wire trimming Tool
Post by: jwilliams79 on September 02, 2021, 04:11:12 PM
Just started a crack build and was making decent progress until I got to this step with the green twisted wire.  What do you guys use for this step ?

For cutting wires? The CHP-170 is what you want!

Thanks for the reply Paul.  I have wire cutters that are good. It's the trimming of the wire that has me confused. I started thinking trimming meant cutting and now the wire is too short to reach the tube socket. Instructions say to trim  an inch and a half off one wire.  Is it safe to ignore the trimming part and just strip the wire ?

Oh, I know what you're talking about.  The trimming is because the long end needs to go to A4/A5 and you don't need nearly that much wire to reach A9.  If it's just a little short, you can untwist the wire a little bit more.

Definitely do not ignore any of the directions, strange things can happen if you do that!

Thanks PB,
I have A9 hooked up ready to solder. Stay tuned I'm sure I will have more questions soon.
