Title: Testing the switch with a meter
Post by: nipsy on May 03, 2022, 09:00:57 PM
Page 25 recommends testing the switch with a meter. I'm a bit confused as to where to set the dial on my multimeter. Any suggestions ?

Thanks in advance !

You can set it for resistance and the switch will measure close to 0 ohms across its lugs when turned on.

I'm assuming that I would set the multimeter to the lowest resistance setting, 200 ohms in the case of my meter ?

Yes, or there may be a setting where the meter beeps when you touch the probes together, and that would also be an appropriate setting.

Don't worry if you see something like 3-5 ohms with the switch on and your meter measuring it, as many meters don't measure a dead short all that accurately.
