Title: stereomour II final resistance check [resolved]
Post by: 87Coug on July 25, 2022, 07:31:06 PM
Hello all, I just finished the assembly of the stereomour II kit and was performing the terminal resistance checks. My issue is that terminals 7,14,47 and 48 all displayed a failed resistance ie O.L. on my meter. The joints look sound, I tried reheating the joints and still they failed. My inexperienced mind thinks perhaps I over soldered but seem similar to but on the heavy side compared to other joints. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Jack

I think you are all right. Re read page 63 in the manual and take heed that as long as you do not have zero ohns and your meter is displaying OL that means infinite resistance which is what you want. Do nor fret Sir.

Thank you, I did re read but it seemed odd to me that my meter instructions state that if the circuit is open the display will show OL. What am I missing? if no continuity the circuit is open is how my brain interprets that. I also have 1 other issue, terminal 6 220uf 250v capacitor reads OL the manual calls for 1.2K ohms. I checked orientation, I have the striped lead to 5U which tests fine. I reheated the solder joint...fail and then removed and re soldered.....fail still getting OL. Any suggestions???? Thank you, Jack

Post some build pics for the 5/6 question.

The terminals with a * in the manual may show OL on a meter, there's nothing good or bad about this, it's just what your meter interprets when you're trying to measure something that isn't a resistor with the resistance measuring function.

There should be a white wire running to terminal 6.
