Title: BeePre2 output upgrade now available
Post by: Doc B. on July 30, 2022, 07:32:49 AM
Please note that this upgrade is designed to be installed after the Bee2Quiet upgrade. Better bandwidth and dynamics and a low impedance balanced XLR output.

Thanks Doc! I placed an order yesterday (UK time) and I'm really looking forward to it. One small thing: no manual download appears to have been made available and there was a brief error message about the manual being removed from my cart. Might be worth checking that this is configured correctly?

Cheers

Paul.

I had the same thing about the manual when I ordered.

OK, I may have fixed the manual download problem for folks who order in the future. If you have ordered the output upgrade and were not able to download the manual let us know at [email protected] and we will get you a fresh download link.

Hi all,

I’m just going through the parts in my kit and want to confirm that these are indeed the “22KΩ 3W” resistors. They seem like the exact same size as the 1/8W, is this correct?

(Can’t seem to post a .jpg attachment for some reason)

I have the same issue.  they are four 2K 1/8W resistors.  I emailed Eileen at BH and let her know

Yes, we goofed. Everyone will be sent the correct resistors. Sorry for the inconvenience.

This maybe a Typo on page 15 (I don't know for sure)

( ) Insert the leads of a 220Ω 1⁄4W carbon film resistor (red, red, violet, gold) into the RC positions on both the A and B sides.

Should read  (red, red, brown, gold)?

Couple quick questions.

By requiring the "Bee2Quiet Stepped Attenuator/Constant Current Source Upgrade for BeePre2" be installed prior to this upgrade;  is this requirement the entire upgrade or could those you have only done the CCS upgrade but not the stepped attenuators do this upgrade?

Will this upgrade 'mellow' the BeePre at bit?  After a ton of breaking in it's still a bit 'hard' sounding when compared to my 6SN7 preamp running NOS tubes.

The manual is written assuming you have the first upgrade installed.  Without sitting down and building out a BeePre 2 with half the upgrade like you have, then actually attempting to install the second upgrade, it would be difficult to answer your question with absolute certainty.

Regarding the sound have you tried alternate coupling capacitors? (perhaps what's in your 6SN7 preamp?)  Have you tried installing the attenuator portion of the first upgrade?

The parts list and the manual mention PN2907A transistors. Included in my kit are JC2907A transistors. Are they equivalent?

Yes, those are appropriate.
