Title: Issues with Eros 2 Assembly [resolved]
Post by: mediumgrade on August 03, 2022, 07:32:40 PM
Hello! First time Bottlehead buyer. I am super excited!

Anyway, I found, after I had finished assembling the shunt regulator, I tested the voltages as outlined on page 55 and found they seemed a bit off. Side A measures at about 220 and side B fluctuates between 230 and 231. Should they measure the same? The document said that the voltages should measure between 210-230, but is it a problem that side B measures as high as 231?

What's the most common way folks share photos?

I am attaching pics of the top and bottom. I hope this helps!

231V is just fine.

And the two don't need to be the same?

Full disclosure, I had wired something incorrectly on the board previously which caused the voltage on that side to measure up to 250v. After fixing that problem, it now measures at 230/231 and I just want to make sure there is still not something wrong before I proceed.

Thanks!

What are your Kreg voltages?  230V would tend to indicate a discrepancy will be present with the Kreg voltages.

Both A and B sides read about 1.9.

Once you get the rest of the kit built out let us know what those Kreg voltages move to, as they should change once the rest of the circuit is drawing away the excess current that the regulator is currently sucking down.

Will do. Thanks!

Finally finished the assembly. All the resistances tested within range and all C4S voltages as well. I went back and tested the the shunt regulator and now both tabs test at 215v. So, very good! I am testing it now and have a small issue which I will make a separate post for.

Thanks so much for all your help!
