Title: Variable mains voltage
Post by: trickyricky123 on January 21, 2023, 04:40:08 AM
Hi all,

Building the Crackatwoa. At the step to pick the right mains voltage soldering.

Unfortunately the voltage in our house seems to vary. And annoyingly above and below the 235V line.

Officially there is supposed to be 230V coming through.

What to pick in this scenario?

Thank you

It's safe to go either way with this decision, but knowing that your wall voltage should be 230V, I'd probably wire for that in hopes that it averages out closer to that.

With the Crackatwoa now retired, you're one of the last to build! Enjoy it! I love mine and will cherish it even more now for life. Cheers.

Hey thanks!

Let’s see where this goes. Very annoying swings here. Sometimes it hits 230V exactly. Then it jumps to 248V for a while. Pretty drastic.

Went for the <235V option and already seen the secondary tests on terminal 19 & 20 hit between 168V and 180V. Scary!
