Title: Channel Imbalance
Post by: Zellouscode on January 22, 2023, 01:44:06 AM
Crack with speedball
Right channel crackels occasionally and is a few decibels quiter, 12au7 tube needs to be occasionally moved to get good contact, with multiple tubes.
I figure i need to touch up the soldering of those connections. Any idea which ones would be the likely culprits? just all the red connections at that tube socket?

Yes, this is a soldering issue.  I would resolder all the joints in the amp other than the LEDs and the power switch.

I got to looking at it and the A2 pin is loose on the 12au7 socket where the white wire comes from the volume pot, I imagine i need to redo the whole socket with a fresh one or would this screwup both channels? Tried resoldering just the RCA input and the 12au7 connections and now only get crackling out of the right channel as well as no sound out the right channel.

No, A2 being problematic would not cause issues in both channels.  It's likely that with a tube plugged in, that socket pin contact won't move around.
