Here's a short film on the unearthing of one of the earliest British synthesizers.
Looks like a lot of work to restore but what a fun project it could be!

For someone who grew up long ago listening to bands playing moogs and meelotrons this is really fascinating. 

This woman was on the verge of inventing the first optical scanner.  Actually, she may have a legitimate claim there. 

Essentially, this machine turns art into music (or at least sounds).  You just gotta give this gal some credit for doing all of this back in '57.

I recognize the sounds from Forbidden Planet.  Very 50s SciFi.

As someone who worked for Oberheim Electronics in the 70's this is very cool to me.
And, I thought the old analog stuff we designed back then was big and heavy.

If you guys have never seen the series of videos (I think there's 6) about the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, I think you'll really enjoy these.

BTW, don't ask me about the bearded fellow or the tape machine that goes crazy in the background. I think these were "inside" jokes that regular viewers of these programs might have understood.
