Title: Amplifier for AKG 702
Post by: nub on September 20, 2011, 10:17:30 AM
Hello all,  I have a pair of AKG 702's and am looking for an amplifier.  Which would be the better amp to drive them?  S.E.X. 2.1 or Smack?

We've been using Smack on the 64 ohm output setting with K701s with great results. K702s are the same 62 ohm impedance and 105 dB sensitivity so they ought to work just as well, if not even better.

The output of the Smack is adjustable correct?  Is this by a selector switch or is it hard wired when I put the kit together?
edit: Hello Doc, thanks for getting to me so quick :D

See teh thread "Smack photos now up" for a picture of the prototype under the hood. The green boards above the output transformers have the impedance switches.
