Title: output cap bleeder resistor looks a little burnt but tests ok
Post by: sbelyo on December 19, 2011, 10:08:22 AM
While inspecting my crack for another problem I noticed that one of the bleeder resisters for the output caps lookeda little toasted, but it measured fine.

Any thoughts on what would cause that?

There should never be a lot of voltage there, and therefore very little current to cause it to burn.  Could it be from installation, the soldering iron getting to close?

no, it was pristine when I built it.  The amp functions normally and the offset was within the limits.  Just thought it strange when I saw it

Then clip on your meter leads and turn on the amp.  See what kind of voltage gets across this resistor.  Post your results.
