Title: Minor Manual Typo for orders shipped before 2/12/13.
Post by: Paul Birkeland on February 12, 2013, 12:07:09 PM
For those who have received their kits or who have received a shipping notice on their kits, on page 55, the C4S board should be oriented with the B side facing forward.

If you managed to wire the board with the A side facing forward and longer lengths of wire, there is no harm in leaving your preamp as-is.

page 19 of the assembly manual shows the numbering of the pins of the 300b tubes  counterclockwise, which should be clockwise...
i wonder if this affects other instructions

Hmm, yeah, it looks like we numbered them differently than the conventional numbering (easy to do with 4 pins).

If the terminal identification on page 19 is used, there will not be an issue.

I did notice my resistance and voltage checks on pins 2and 3  on the 300bs were swapped in the manual.  Schematic shows correct pins for grid and plate. Scared me a bit when I found 100+ V on the pin tied to the pots  :o.  I was using the terminal id page as reference.

Just been studying the manual pre-build, noticed another slight error: the photos on the bottom of pg33 & the top of pg34 for the heater wiring, have been transposed.

Good eyes on that one.  It took me a few minutes of staring at the drawings to confirm this.
Title: Resistors swapped - manual revision 12/18/2013.

Hi,
Last three pictures on pg. 26 and all pics. on pgs. 27 and 28 show swapped 3.3k ohms and 330 ohm resistors ( manual revision date 12/18/2013).
I thought I made mistake but went back to pg. 24 and confirm that on this page the 3.3k is shawn in position R2 and 330 in R4. As far as I can tell from schrmatics on the first few pages of the manual, pg. 24 shows them correct but I'm not 100% sure.
Let me know.
Thanks,
Kris

Yes, we made the error, then did a partial reshoot of that board.  Since all the photos leading up to their installation are correct, then they are soldered in, we left the remaining photos in place.  (You'll also note that the lighting of the board changes significantly between those sets of photos)

Thanks PB.
Are there any other changes made to the manual after Dec. 2013 that I should be aware of?
Should I ask Josh for the latest version?
