I'm jealous.  You must be much closer than I am.

There has been quite a bit of orange acrylic coming in lately; I don't think it's a big seller at my vendor.  (I take whatever they feel like giving me)

The orange looks SUPER with the natural alder.. I dont know, but the more I see the natural alder color, the more I like it.. When I am ready to build, I think I will leave the alder "unadulterated"... Haha, this is going to sound weird, but, the VERY first thought that entered my mind when seeing the orange fix for the first time was.... Those orange popsicles with vanilla ice cream inside... I LOVE those..  Told you it was weird... :)

I'm in East Tennessee.  Orange is big here.  I refer to it it as a Patriotic Color.

Right, the Volunteers and the Orange Men...

In Ireland that would mean something entirely different :)

True, I'd rather have green acrylic or even better purple

Mine is somewhere in Ohio after being shipped 12/12.  Waiting with baited breath.

I just opened mine and it looks like I got yellow.

Now I see why to keep the layout intact -- you can just cut the plate in half lengthwise and build two bases and then place these next to monoblock amps.

Now I'll have a passive "double smiley" graphic EQ that I always wanted :-)

I was thinking the same, i need a switch box so i'm tempted to cut it into two.  I got a Cyan base with mine..

I received mine today. Another yellow one!  I still plan to change the layout to mount it vertically with the in/ outs on the rear.  I don't see any issue using the plate that came with the kit. I'll post a photo when finished.

Mr. Blackplate,
What is the surprise concerning the layout you referred to in an earlier post?

Anyone have a listening impression yet?

Joel

I received mine today too!  It has a most unusual top plate.  It is polycarbonate tread plate!  This will really look cool when I finish.

BTW, I worked on a mill at Alcoa that made tread plate, now called something else.

That one is from me ;)

@Joel - the surprise is the sticker label, which may not work so well with a vertical layout.

Thank you Paul!  I'll post pictures after the weekend.  I'm back to 40 hours a week.

No, it will look great if it turns out like I hope it will. Thanks!

Mine arrived today - I got the Creamsicle (tm) version too!  We are told to expect debilitating snow here tonight/tomorrow, so I might just have a chance to assemble it!  (or shovel!)  Looking forward to it!
