Title: Thanks, Paul, Grainger and others!
Post by: Tom-Huffman on December 20, 2013, 08:07:07 AM
It is finally done and burned in...sounds great.
The Stereomour was upgraded with Triad chokes and all AuriCaps + JJ 2A3s and Psvane 12AT7.
Speakers are Lowther PM5As in plexiglass open baffles and Great Plains 416s in the enclosure below the window tuned to 25Hz.  Electronics: First Watt B1 preamp, First Watt B5 xover at 120Hz, rebuilt Adcom 5500 for woofers.
Thanks again!

Looks great!  How do you like the Psvane 12AT7 vs. the old stock tube?

After the tubes and new caps have a full 150 hours I will swap the 12AT7 back to stock and give a listen.
I learned a new phrase from my NASA son-in-law who is the robotics lead on the space station - perishable skill. They run simulations over and over up to the last minute because that type of dexterity is a perishable skill and diminishes quickly.
For me my audio memory is a perishable skill, so at the last minute I will settle on the tracks and listen, then immediately swap to the stock tube and listen after it stabilizes.  I also have a NOS Mullard CV4024 that is burnt in but will leave that comparison for another day.
