Title: Smashed up
Post by: corndog71 on January 29, 2015, 10:47:34 AM
So I started building the SmashUp kit last night.  As I was removing the Smash from my system and pulling the RCA's out a funny thing happened.

Apparently my homemade cable with cheap Radio Shack RCAs wouldn't let go and then THUNK!  the whole jack came out.  :o  Not sure if I stripped the nut or the jack but they won't tighten up together anymore.  Fortunately, it was the extra output jack which only ripped out half of the wire coming off the resistor.

Hopefully I'll have it completed tonight.

I remember getting some cables at Radio Shack in the 90's that were indeed incredibly grippy.  I can remember them tearing off the metal shell on a cluster of back mounted RCA jacks on some component I had.
