Title: Does Length Matter
Post by: ptlud on February 04, 2015, 07:09:34 AM
Does the length of the power chord affect the sonic improvement?  I do not need a six foot cable.  Would a three foot cable still have the same sonic characteristics as a six foot cable?

Thanks,

Paul

I have a 2' Bottlehead power cord to my preamp power supply.  It demonstrably makes a positive difference over a stock and a shielded aftermarket power cord.

Shorter is not a problem from a sonics standpoint.  Shorter may even be better, but that is up to your ears.  When one ventures into higher end power cords, the cords tend to be thicker and bulkier, so be careful with receptacle/component placement. A short length may not conform well to tight bends.

Short power cords can be a hassle. That being said, I gave not heard any sonic difference between a 3 foot vs 6 foot power cord
