Title: Layout and dimensions?
Post by: Jim R. on June 20, 2015, 12:48:47 PM
Can somebody describe the top panel layout of this new amp? Is it the same basic layout of the original stereomour?

Also, can somebody tell me how short a base somebody could get away with?

Thanks,

Jim

Jim
It is very similar, with the addition of the second 12AT7 tube.
The power inlet speaker outs and three sets of RCA inputs line up left to right across the back.
The new PT-8 is centered between the plate chokes and OTs just in front of the ins and outs.
Moving forward the hum pots are next, spaced well apart with smallish horizontal vents between them.
The tube compliment is next. L to R : 2A3, 3 long vertical vents, 12AT7, 12AT7, 3 long vertical vents, 2A3. The tubes are evenly spaced with the 2A3s aligned in front of the hum pots.
The controls along the front are rotary input, balance, volume and the mini toggle on/off, again left to right.
Very Bottlehead. Hope that helps.

I measured and both the OTs and the transistors on the board, mounted as directed come in right around 2"

Hi Karl,

Many thanks for this. Somehow I got it into my head that they had moved to a "landscape" orientation from the normal "portrait" orientation.

Well, when I get back into the kit building mindset, this, or the S.e.x 2.1 will be first. But all that is a long way off.

Take care,

Jim

Jim,
After completing assembly I realize the tall electrolytic caps bring the depth under the plate to about 2.5 inches

Karl,

Thanks for the additional info. I will leave a bit of extra clearance, plust then there are the feet.

Of course, as I said, this is a while off yet. Still have a lot of purging and de-cluttering to go first. Could be the Stereomour III by then :-)
