I suspect this is a dopey question at best, but I don't understand how the 160v winding on the power transformer in my Steromour II kit produced 388v of B+. I'd be most grateful if someone could explain this magic to me. Apologies for my ignorance! :o :-\

The circuit is called a "voltage doubler" - Google has lots of information on it. I like it because it makes more efficient use of the transformer winding. There are a few other minor advantages as well.

Actually, I use the Delon bridge circuit, but same difference pretty much.
