Title: Headphones on Kaiju 300B
Post by: alejon on January 31, 2017, 01:56:53 AM
Hi everyone,
I've just ordered a Kaiju kit and I am curious if anyone tried to run headphones with this amp?
How to make the best impedance matching with the Senn's HD650 (300Ohm)?
Many thanks in advance!
Best regards,
alejon

There aren't a ton of headphones that need 8,000mW of power, but if you'd like to try headphones on the Kaiju, and you have the DC heater board, give the AKG K-1000's, Hifiman HE-6, or other power hungry headphones a shot.

HD-650's will work when powered by the Kaiju, and the best impedance setting will be the 2 Ohm output.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for reply!
I've got a very nice Speedball Crack as well, but thinking if I could get the same sound quality for the headphones from Kaiju.
Or maybe I am totally wrong?
Yes, I've ordered the one with the DC filament board.
Regards!

You sure can give them a try.  I would probably buy a pair of 10 Ohm and a pair of 1 Ohm resistors to make a voltage divider at the output of the Kaiju, just to reduce the available power to your headphones a little.
