Title: XLD software
Post by: butchbass on February 22, 2017, 01:30:29 PM
I finally started using Amarra and am amazed at the  sound. I have been using J River but stopped using it because it would not open all the time and it quit ripping. I tried figuring it out but it was beyond me. I rip to iTunes and use Amara to playback. My question is, do I have any need for XLD if I do not need to convert formats? iTunes rips great and Amarra sounds wonderful.

XLD has more options how it handles read errors and bad sectors. So you get a better result if your discs are scratched.
You can check the ripped result with the AccurateRip-Database to be sure you have a good copy.
So if you want the rip to be as good as possible - use XLD. If you want it fast, comfortable but average - use iTunes.

Thanks for the feedback. I will give XLD a try. I am not close to being good enough to wear the title "computer geek" but I am getting there.
