A friend of the family has been through the ringer. Without getting into to much detail she was affected negatively both emotionally and physically by an abusive relationship. The good news is that she has taken the first step and gone through the legal process of ending said relationship. But as they say, "wounds run deep." Getting back on track hasn't been as easy as it may sound. Especially when natural remedies are preferred over quick fix pharmaceuticals. Part of her Naturopathy involves sound therapy. Going under headphones and submersing herself in southing music and sounds is a way for her to deal with her anxiety. Whether it be "New Age" music, the sounds of nature like whales or orca's, the sweet sounds of birds in nature or simply gentle rain fall, the end result is the same.
She acquired all the appropriate source materials and a decent pair of headphones to plug into her computer. Things were getting better but the forward progression was stagnant. Here is where bottlehead comes in. I picked up a couple of S.E.X. kits from Jim Rebman a while back. One of them I had already built and given to a friend. The second was about 70 percent complete. So I finished it up, did the resistance and voltage checks and finally listened to the amp. All was good.
I brought the amp to her house with an older unused DAC I had lying around and hooked it up to her computer. The expression on her face was priceless when she first heard the sound.
She doesn't have the means to pay for the S.E.X. amp or the DAC. Watching her expression and joy while listening to her therapeutic audio was more than I could ever ask for in the means of monetary compensation.
