As you guys and gals know the site has been having issues lately in terms of access. We had been under the impression that it was primarily due to DDoS attacks and we had been focusing our efforts on improving security. While that helped, there was still some strange issue that was bogging the site down at random.
Last night we seem to have discovered the issue. A while ago Head-Fi revised their URL. Unfortunately any older images hosted on Head-Fi that were linked to a post on the Bottlehead forum had a bad redirect link. If a person attempted to view a thread that had a post with these bad links the server would bog down while continually pinging the bad links. Josh Perelli, our IT guy extraordinaire, went in after we figured this out and fixed the links. I have also let Jude at Head Fi know about the problem.
Unfortunately the particular thread that was causing the problem last night had to be removed so that we could get the site working well enough to correct the issue. That thread was in the gallery, about JamieMcC's Crack amp. Apologies for the removal of the thread. We were in a bad situation and had to get the site functional in order to correct the problem.
I also blocked access to the gallery until we figured out the problem. I'll be bringing the gallery back as soon as we are sure we have the issue sorted.
