Now that the SEX is fully upgraded I'm working on speakers. I have a set of Blumenstein Orcas on the way and wanted to add a subwoofer. A couple questions:
  • I bought two of these dual banana plugs from Monoprice. My assumption is that if I plug these in to the binding posts on the SEX I can connect both a subwoofer and a set of speakers. Is that accurate?
  • The sub I currently own is powered. It isn't great. It's an old Yamaha. I've attached a photo of its inputs. I assume that I'm ok to run the cable from the SEX to the sub, hook it into the Input 1 "From Amplifier" pair and then just not run anything from the subwoofer outputs. Is that accurate, or do I need to run from the sub for some reason?

Eventually a Stereomour II will replace the SEX, and I assume whatever setup I use here will work there as well.

You can run the speaker outputs from the SEX to both your Orcas and the subwoofer.  The speaker level inputs on the subwoofer are high impedance, so they won't put any additional load on the amp.

You can hook your Orcas to either the SEX amp or the output of the subwoofer.  The subwoofer will usually have a basic high pass filter to relieve some of the low frequency content from traveling to your speakers.

Thank you! Do you recommend one method over the other, or is it strictly a preference thing?
