Wire gauge

I've noticed that the kits now use thinner gauge wire in most areas throughout. (I think my original Reduction was 20-ga everywhere) It looks like it makes assembly easier (think SEX 2.1 vs 3.0) and from what I've read 600V/24-ga should cover most of a re-build. In general, is there anywhere in the kits where 24-ga wouldn't handle the amperage?

I do not believe that the size of the teflon jacketed wire we provide has ever changed since we started providing it. It is 22 AWG wire.
SEX 2.1 used the PVC coated 20 AWG wire.
Which kit do you plan to rebuild? The problem places for decreasing wire size would tend to be tube heaters/filaments and the output side of output transformers.

Thanks for the info Paul, I'm working on my Reduction. It was retired for the Eros, but I'm thinking a second vinyl setup with a SEX 3.0 and some kind of a Frankenstein, home-brew TT. All just an excuse to huff some flux fumes...

24 AWG for the Reduction is OK, but I would leave the STP in for the heaters.

Paul, I stuck with the STP for the heaters and even used it for the RCA outs. I used 20/22-ga in the 120V in and the HV build around the transformer.
Thanks again, Karl
