Ok, so as I mentioned in the other thread, I installed the speedball.  The quiet between passages in a song is amazing! Even quiet in between instruments, if that makes sense. Black background indeed!   For reference I really noticed it on "An Ode To No One" by The Smashing Pumpkins.  It also helps it's FLAC encoded.

Very good detail too, excellent bass that is tight and has impact, this upgrade is worth it!  Very awesome!

So it turns out part of the wow factor was the fact that I installed the Speedball and then added rolled in a Sylvania "Bad Boy" Mil-Spec 6SN7 and a Western Electric 421A.  So add all that up and it sounds amazing!  I then switched back to a Russian Winged C power tube and it still sounded better than before, but not anywhere close to the WE 421A.

So for those who wish to spend the money go for the WE 421A.  Unfortunately, they are going for $300-$400 per tube on Ebay.   I found one for just under $200 so I grabbed it.

All in all, it's a great upgrade, definitely worth it!
