Completed Stereomour II

I finished the circuit on my Stereomour II the other day and wrapped up staining the base overnight. Some additional pictures available on the gallery site.

First impressions are that this is a really incredible amp. It has, as I mentioned in this thread, a little less gain than I had initially expected, but after a couple of days of listening I'm realizing it's not an issue since it'll still drive my speakers past listenable levels. But the music coming out of it is a lot more sophisticated than what the SEX produced. There are tons of little details I'm picking up that I didn't before, and a lot more depth. And the bass! I had to adjust my powered crossover down a bit since it was sterilizing nearby animals.

Thanks to Doc, PJ, PB, and the entire Bottlehead crew for yet another stunner!

Nice! The SII is great. Wait til you install the Shunt Reg upgrade. Takes the amp to whole new level. 

You're putting together a heckuva BH collection! Next stop Kaiju?

I'm really excited for the upgrades - I have them sitting in boxes waiting for the amp to burn in enough. Also to get enough time to do them right since they look pretty involved!

I do plan to eventually go the Kaiju/BeePre/Jaeger path, but I've probably hit the limits of a) my wife's understanding and patience; b) space in our house; c) my budget. The next tier up gets pricey fast!

A Beepre/Kaiju/Jaeger combo would make an excellent anniversary, Xmas or birthday gift for your wife  Together with an offer to put it together for her All she needs to to do is pick the wood finishes

I should also mention that the Stereomour II has solved virtually all the microphonics I was seeing from the Smash. I assume this is a product of the reduced gain since I kept the SEX wide open and am doing the same with the Stereomour II.
