I have the Magnaquest brass frame and plates for my SEX amp. I have removed the laquer coating
off the brass frames......alot of work with sandpaper......did not want to use a solvent for fear of
damage. They look great! Now I could use some suggestions for covering the coated bobbin and
nickel plate inside the frame. I have thought of trying some brass or copper coated tape to cover the
bobbin. I don't think paint will stick to the laquer. The bobbin appears to be paper under the laquer.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Polyurethane. At least thats what Mike told me to do. Seems to have worked great.

When I got my transformers I called Mike and he told me to clean them then shoot with Polyurethane too.  That has kept them from tarnishing for 5 years.

Thanks guys for the suggestion. Since the bobbins look ugly, I wanted to paint them but they are covered with a layer of think lacquer. I am afraid to use a solvent to remove it as I might damage the bobbin. Is there a primer or paint that will stick to lacquer? I was thinking of nice metal foil type tape.........would the foil create a problem with the autoformer?

Thanks

Thanks Xcortes for the suggestion. Priming the whole thing and painting was what I wanted to do.....but I was afraid that it might not stick to the lacquer.....and I would have a giant mess and ruined autoformers and
plates. I will try it with 3 or 4 real light coats of high temp primer and then a high temp coat of brass or
copper or silver. I have gotten all the brass frame polished like glass....1000 grit sandpaper and a rub down with FLITZ metal polish. Painting the bobbins and inside the frame should look spectacular.  Do you have any pictures of some of the magnaquest that you have pimped?  I would be most intersted and probably so would others doing the enhanced SEX.
