How much mixing of the stereo signals occurs when using one sub-woofer.  Is the intent of the two resistors in the sub output on the Foreplay III to reduce the mixing to a level that is negligible to the ear or just minimize the mixing? How many of you folks using a sub-woofer use just one?

The Foreplay resistors do NOT allow the use of a y-cable. Most subs will have a pair of input jacks, and will create an internal sum without shorting the two channels together. If you don't have that and must short the two auxiliary outputs together, use larger resistors - at least 10K each.

I use a single sub woofer with stereo inputs, RCA jacks.  The sub amp does the mixing, crossover and level control.  It works well.

Thanks for the replies. I do use the two RCA inputs on the sub amp. Now I have peace of mind and a direction to go in. I want to upgrade my sub woofer and wasn't sure if I should stay with one or get two. Money doesn't grow on trees in my neck of the woods yet.

Better yet...

I have a single sub as well, but I use a separate DAC (old MSB link lll) to drive the sub amp. I run a long glass toslink to the DAC that is located behind my listening spot. Best of all worlds as I can see it. Adjust sub volume from my listening spot (independent from mains), minimal signal loss from main DAC etc.
