This board has been a wonderful distraction as I've prepared for the bar over the last two months - I just finished the CT bar exam today and hope to start the stereomour in the next couple of days.  This board has been a great source of diverting my mind away from the thinking about the law - so I'd like to extend a general thanks to all who post here, I have read them all even if i have no idea about what electrical engineering concept you are talking about - Oh and if you slip and fall in any major supermarket or pharmacy chain, you know who to call - I am kidding of course, but just in case: Disclaimer: the last statement by said poster was for entertainment purposes only and does not constitute legal advice, the offer or solicitation of legal advice, or the offer to enter into a legal binding relationship, as he is not a licensed attorney; thus, he should not be contacted under any circumstances regarding any legal advice. Any statement by said was poster was made under the influence of alcohol after two days and twelve hours of testing and should be wholly ignored as gibberish. See - I'm learning, I almost sound like a lawyer.

Favorite lawyer joke: What is the difference between a Flounder and a Lawyer?

One's a blood sucking bottom feeder and the other's a fish - Heyyyoh.

Sean,

Congrats! Now what is it, 8 or 10 weeks before you get the results?  Building and listening to the stereomour s9unds like a good way to pass the time waiting.

Congrats Sean. I know how difficult it can be passing the bar, what with a brewery next to our office.

If you can ramble that kind of gibberish out under the influence of alcohol you are going to make a great attorney.

Congratulations!

Thanks for the kinds words!

the bar results come out september 29th, I worked for Sloan kettering cancer center previously, so I'd like to continue in the health care field, but the economy might dictate that I end up spending more time at the brewery type bar as doc mentioned, than the court room type bar for now.

The NY bar is notoriously tough - so good work on her part. I am debating taking taking that one in February - due to timing issues, you can't take NY and CT at the same time, which stinks.  I went to Quinnipiac Law - which is just North of New Haven.

NYU and Columbia . . . they are fantastic schools, but they were above my academic numbers when I was applying.  I was fortunate to get into some good schools, but QU offered a scholarship, and having worked in the real world for about 5 or 6 years and paying off undergrad student loans, it was hard to turn down money.  Also I had a friend who went to Georgetown undergrad and then to QU law who favorably compared his educational experiences at both institutions, so I had an idea going in that QU wouldn't be a pushover (even though its not the highest ranked school in the world). He turned out to be right, and I had a fantastic educational experience with some really dedicated faculty who have participated in some really impressive cases and other work

For those who live outside the northeast and aren't familiar, you might recognize Quinnipiac as the school that does all that polling work.

Hey Sean.  You mentioned Sloan Kettering so I just took a wild guess on two schools in NY that I knew off of the top of my head.  Dont ask me how I knew, Im not from NY and never have lived there.  Im not a lawyer either.  Just took a tounge in cheek stab at it.   Regardless, Im sure you received a fine education.  With most schools, the individual takes away what he puts into it.  Actually practicing is what will make you a good attorney as it is with most everything else.  Again, hope you pass first time around and congrats.

ps.  Too bad you didnt go to law school in Brookyln.  I could have continued with the My Cousin Vinny ribbings  ;D

let me see , just off the top of my head.....   a flounder costs what 2 or 3 bucks a pound?... and a lawyer costs depending on his weight.....uhhhh 100 bucks a pound?....  but all joking aside the real truth is that if the flounder could speak he/she would just say .. "Hey!!! , DONT include me with those b**t**ds"...... :I JUST swim WITH the sharks, I aint one of them....

Sorry, but re-reading the first post I thought of my favorite lawyer joke from my brother-in-law, he is a lawyer.

Do you know why New Jersey has the most toxic waste dumps and California has the most lawyers?  Jersey got the first choice.
