Hello, long time since  posting...it's been a while!

I am sure they will work together fine, since I have one of those cheap 5 watt/channel d amps pushing them for a while now, and the Altec's are no slouch in the high-efficiency department. I am wanting to get some more Bottlehead gear. I have always been curious about the S.E.X. integrated and also like the dual purpose use of it, powering my mains, or to be used for headphones if I want to make it a nice office system.

Now the reason I ask is that my Man listening room is large and is an open floor plan... the main area with "boundaries" is easily 17x 25, with it opening to adjoining rooms.....The current amp can power it fine, and having Paramours in the past , and used 6v6PP amps too, I know tubes tend to have more, shall we say, "balls"...

Also, I guess the upgrade kit should be placed on order with the kit as well I assume?

So, before I pull the trigger, I just want a general consensus and appreciate all advice, questions, and even criticisms!

Thanks,

chris

So 75 views and not a SINGLE reply? Nothing? I swear the old forum, I would have had at least one thoughtful/thorough reply....

Yes, it will work well. IIRC GPA 604s are rated at 98db/w@1M so you should be able to hit 101 dB peaks.  And we just got caught up on S.E.X. kit orders and should be able to ship a new order quickly. Re 75 views per response, understand that there are a LOT more people reading the forum these days (around 10-12K page views per day lately) and most lurk.

Thanks Doc!

I didn't intend to sound like a brat, I am just wondering if anyone had experience with the combo... I will more than likely place my order Friday and look to building again soon. I bought my first kit from y'all back in '02 after my first deployment. I sold the paramours a few years ago, so I am itching again!

I'll post my results when I order and build the kit.

Paully used Chorus II Klipsch speakers with his SEX amp.  I heard that combination in two rooms but neither were as large as you describe.  He is now using 1.75WPC with Altec 19s in a room that is about half the basement of his house.  I.E. half the size of the upstairs.  It gets louder than either of us can stand.

So I'll volt for your making it with the SEX and your Altec speakers.

Thanks Grainger for the response. I did a thorough search on the AA tube, set, and high eff forums and came up flat with the sex/604 combo. I know in my experience that it will perform well, since I don't have to turn up my current amp too loud ( a cheap parts express triipath amp). I am looking forward to placing my order and getting back to slinging some solder again!

Try looking for combos with a 45 amp, it would have about the same power and compatibility.
