audio asylum down ?

Hello , since yesterday I'm trying to reach this site , but I always get : cant connect to server

Yes AA has been down quite a bit lately, a couple of days last week and again yesterday and this morning.

Looks like it might be something more serious this time; I can get no indication that AA is even on line, since yesterday.

As I noted in the thread about the Bottlehead Archive, keeping it around seems to be a moot point lately.

Last week Rod had mentioned something about a problem that required rebuilding parts of the forum that were pretty time consuming. He said he hoped that the problem was solved, but perhaps it persists.

Duoh! It's was back up for a while but down again as of 20:20 hours PT. Rod must really be having a struggle.

Yup, it's been real nasty. The db server started have problems a week or so ago and then finally took a big crash and corrupted the entire db, so I had to move the data to another server and rebuild it all. Knock or wood, it should be the last problem for a while anyway.

Are you getting a db error message when you try to reply to a message?

If so, I'm running a script to fix that right now. The reason is that we write messages as html and also put them into the db. Because we restored from a backup, recent posts weren't in the db, but the html remains.

When you try to reply, the system checks the db and throws an error if the data isn't there. It's to check if a post got deleted while you were responding.

I just updated the script that parses messages and added the lost ones to the db, so you shouldn't see any more of those errors.

Yup, that's it. I just started a new thread - it was very nearby, in the SET Asylum. Other than that, it seems to be working great again.

another problem now: e-threads view of Vinyl Asylum shows the fourth most recent thread posted to is from 2 weeks ago. And the last one on the page is from 9 months ago.
