I'm not really sure what all it does, at first glance it looks a 7800 series regulator on a pcb, where is the clever bit?
I am currently experimenting with building an ac power supply for the quickie and so far i have managed to cobble together a working heater supply using two lm317's. For the main power supply i am under the impression linear regulators arent an ideal solution, and would be better off doing it old school with CRC filters, or with chokes for reasons i dont fully understand. The voltage is troublesome too at ~36v as those regulators top out at 24v, though it may be possible to use two 18v versions.
Anyway back to your question, i dont see those boards being plug and play in any way, if anything you would be best to start from scratch and build your own. Though i think the PJCCS does regulate voltage as well as current, but i may be wrong in that.
