Quickie in a metal box / grounding

Managed to finish this off during the forum hiatus, using a combination of your advice and a few tricks i picked up from this excellent video i found a position/orientation with minimum interference and made up a bracket to hold the output transformer there. The background noise is only barely noticeable now with my most sensitive headphones so i'm perfectly happy with it.

I've been using this little amp for a while now and love it, believe it or not i found 32ohm Grados a very good match with it, volume level is usually around 3/4 which is fine. It does sound lovely though, and still sounds like a quickie which is the most important part.   I'll post some pics soon..

That's such a interesting link thanks.  Looking forward to seeing the pics. My Quickie is still a box of parts at the moment and I do have some ATH W1000X which are 42 ohms and somewhat under used at the moment. Decisions decisions.

As always, build it stock first and experience the little wonder for yourself.  The output transformers are cheap if you want to add them later and experiment with it as a headphone amp.

I only bought mine for a bit of fun and to learn on as it runs on low enough voltage not to bite you. I didn't need or have any need for a preamp so i only added the output transformers to make it more usable.  What i didn't expect was to fall in love with its neutral and crystal clear sound.  Its not the most powerful amp in the world, but good enough to become my bedroom rig for listening to music and watching tv late at night
