Reduction vs. Grado PH-1 modified

No contest. Grado got new caps, wiring and RCA's. Grado sounds like a blanket is over it and it sounded like that before the mods, hence the mods and it did help (a lot less "grain" in the sound) but not near enough. Grado is back in the box and the Reduction is back where it belongs.

Out of interest what opamp chip is in that thing?
I built a few Grado RA1 headphone amp clones and they can sound ok, but way way over priced for all they are. i.e. a simple opamp and a few caps in a wooden box.

Some clever person with a dremel tool erased all the identification on that chip. I'm assuming it's in the chipness protection program...
