It seems to me that a 24 gauge wire carrying all the current for the Stereomour amp is too small.  What am I missing?

Thanks,

Paul

It's 20AWG wire.

I wasn't aware that we supply 24 AWG wire with the Stereomour.

The maximum permissible current for chassis wiring with 24 AWG is 3.5A, which is more than any conductor carries in the Stereomour.

The manual says the shielded twisted pair wire has two 24awg conductors.  This wire is used to bring AC current from the IEC plug to the switch and back to the power transformer.

Here is the official table for allowable current vs. AWG.

Ah, the shielded wire is 22 gauge, that's a typo in the manual.

A good judge of what the STP carries is the fuse on the primary of the transformer.  That fuse will hold pretty much forever with the normal current that the amp draws.  It is also sized for an inrush at turn on.
