Is there a way to test an LED while building the Crack? When I was soldering the second LED to A8, it shifted a little and some solder flowed right up to the edge. I hope it's not damaged and was hoping I could confirm this somehow before proceeding.

Some meters can light them up on the diode check setting with the probes oriented in the correct direction.  You can try this by using your meter on the diode that isn't suspect.
