I'm using some shielded 4x24 cable from the selector to the input RCAs and will attach the shield to the ground tabs for those and on to the output RCA ground tabs. The RCAs are on the back panel and not visible in the Pic

If I run that ground scheme to the star ground will I need to do anything with the selector switch end of the shield? Just let it float? Wait to play music and see what the result is?

I would do it the other way.  Attach the shield to the chassis plate (not necessary to go to the star).

The back panel is not metal but wood. Would you create a second "signal ground" on the top plate near the inputs or just run them to the Star?

Whichever is easier.

Bill,

My memory is that the FP 2 is more crowded than your above picture.  Nice neat work!

Don't you recall I've named this the "Parts Box Foreplay"? It looks uncluttered 'cause if I didn't have the part, I just left it out.

Ok, makes sense to me.  But I'm really sleepy right now.
