9.1 channel passive preamp?

Hey all,

I am interested in building a completely passive preamp with a sub-out and maybe a crossover of the sub, but that may be getting a little complicated.

I was looking at some mod of the Pass B1 for this but I am open to ideas and even the possibility of using tubes in the unit.

Why 9 channels? well I figure that with Atmos coming out and Oppo having 7.1 analog out, it's only time before you see units with more outputs from the Oppo.

Any ideas on how to do this?

You're going to have to figure out how you'd like to do the volume control.

There are some remote attenuator PCB kits floating around that can be daisy chained together to get more channels.

I happen to have a bunch of long rotary switches with a gazillion decks on them, and that's what I'd probably use.

If the source component has a level control on the analog outputs, then that will ease things up a fair bit.

I would like to try out an LDR since they are supposedly so good.

I am really wanting to make my system "simple"

My idea is something like this

Apple TV(or other streamer)>Oppo>Passive HT Preamp>miniDSP Direac box?>Amp>Speakers

The Passive preamp providing all the source selection and volume control. So a remote would be nice but not a must.
