Speaker experiments

I just started my own speaker experiments with a simple open baffle design using a 12" Celestion full range driver.  They don't dig too deep or produce shimmering highs but what I am hearing so far is very pleasing with quite a lot of music.  Super easy to build and I'm looking forward to tweaking them further!

I put mine together for around $2200 but I had a guy cut the MDF for me.  It would be $500 less if you can cut your own.  They are servo-controlled.  The drivers were designed for the amps linked on the page.  One amp can drive up to 3 subs.  A pair for each channel will get the job done.  They also require some space from the front wall to sound their best.  At least 3' I would say.

Being open baffle they will not overload the room.  No boom unless you want boom or it's in the recording.  Even at low levels these things are amazing with the foundation they provide to the music.  They really bring drum sets to life.
