Hi,
I've been having so much fun with my Crack. I installed the Speedball, out with the stock volume pot for a blue velvet and swapped the rca jacks too. I've replaced the output caps and final power supply cap with film, I also replaced the 5W resistor at 13/15L with a Hammond 158M choke. Wasn't long before I got to bypassing the remaining power supply caps, those experiments led me to replacing the remaining two power supply caps with film. Of course there wasn't enough room so I ran some wire and have these two larger film caps located outside the case. That led to seeing what would happen if I replaced the final 5w resistor at 15/21U with another Hammond choke. So, today I removed that 5w resistor and in its place hooked up two wires on the terminals and ran those placing this second choke outside of the case as well.
Ok, so the Question. Would there be any problem if I just hooked this choke's wires directly to the proper lugs on the power caps instead of running their wires all the way to the terminals too? I can't see why not but thought I'd better seek advice from people who actually know what they're talking about
Another question, should I run a ground wire from the case to this choke as well? Seems like a good idea.
Thanks for any advice.
Here's a pic of how I have them set up
