Hello all,

Newbie here. Apologies if this is in the wrong place or unwarranted, but I could not find anything on this through search.

I recently bought a used Crack w/ Speedball, but it had no power cord. I would just like to know what specifications/exact type a generic replacement power cable would be so I can order it? At this time I am not interested in Bottlehead's upgraded power cable.

Additionally, while I have your attention, I have two side questions:
1. Is it normal for the big tube pins to only fit halfway into the sockets? It's hard to pull out, but not fully in there looking at it eye-level.
2. Do you guys recommend plugging the crack direct into the outlet, or into a surge protector for safety?

Thanks

With the 6080 tube, there is a keyway molded into the plastic base of the tube.  If that isn't well lined up with the socket, the tube will be hard to plug into the amp and it won't work properly.

The power cord for the amp just needs to be any old generic IEC 3 wire power cord.  These come with many printers, computer monitors, flat screen TVs, etc.

A surge protector is not absolutely necessary for the Crack.  There is some headroom in the design that would allow the amp to handle a reasonably significant surge without being damaged.
