Hello All,

Just a little background, I’m Rudy a long time lurker who’s been considering building a complete premium bottlehead system (Eros,BeePre,Kaiju,Jager). I have no experience soldering but am eager to learn and take my time building it all. I plan on practicing with some simple DIY China kits before taking on the premium bottlehead kits. I figured it would be a good way to get a basic soldering technique down and get over my fear of screwing up since it’s just cheap parts.

Before I allocate significant time and money however, I would like to listen to a bottlehead system in Houston if possible. I have not heard a 300Bs system in person to confirm if it’s right for me. My experience with tubes is limited to Schiit’s products, but I have always found tubes’ presentation of music to be awesome. Listening to crappy A/B audio clips on YouTube, I’ve also preferred them to solid state. I’d appreciate the opportunity to listen locally and for anyone else to share their experiences.

My other alternative was to tweak my modest system (Schiit Saga Preamp, Schiit Mani Phono Preamp, Swan Active Speakers) with a Schiit Vidar power amp and some Salk Speakers....but I just can’t resist that tube glow and think Bottlehead has the best kits available to enjoy them at a fair price.

Hello rben20,
I just recently finished a Kaiju amp. It's powering Audio Nirvana super 12's in 5.6 cabs. I live in Angleton just south of Houston! Your welcome to come and listen to it.

Rudy - since you're contemplating a sizeable outlay of cash for a full Bottlehead system, it might be worth a cheap flight to Seattle to visit BH headquarters.  If you hit up Doc B and and give enough advance notice, I bet you could listen to very system you are thinking of getting. And while you;re there, you could maybe  experience Doc's reel-to-reel setup and some Tape Project recordings. (I'd love to hear the CCR recording).

cheers

Are you could put the $750+ traveling expenses toward a bottle head product!

I live in Lake Jackson and have several Bottlehead products:  Paramounts (300B), Eros, Submissive, Mainline, both SEX models (2.1 and 3.0), and a Crack.

Let me know if you want to listen to the 300B amps.  I am running them with a "passive" pre-amp feeding Blumenstein 2.2 mini/max speakers.
You can bring albums or CDs you are familiar with if you like.

PM me.
